Frequently asked questions
- Do I have to re-scan after adding a mapping rule?
No. Rules are applied during key generation. Add the rule and run SmartMapper again on the same RunID. - Do I have to re-scan after purchasing a license?
No. Only re-run SmartMapper so it can generate the keys for the remaining documents. - Can I run SmartMapper several times on the same scan?
Yes. Each run regenerates the key set from scratch. - Nothing was generated and the log says no mapping rules are defined.
Rules are stored per RunID. Check that the rules exist for the RunID you are processing. - Coverage is lower than expected.
Look at the unresolved reasons in Reading the results. The usual cause is missing rules – Coverage gaps shows which locations are responsible for the most links. - WouldBreak is not zero.
Some keys would damage other links. Do not accept everything; review the affected keys individually. This normally indicates two rules that contradict each other. - A short link such as Report.xlsx was not converted.
Check that a rule covers the document's folder, and that the rule's target is a web location. Short links are intentionally left alone when moving between file shares. - Which documents are included in the trial?
The first 100 documents of the scan, always the same ones. Re-running does not extend the set. The scan itself is not limited – scan as much as you like; only key generation is capped.
